Hartford Harriers - 2011 Season
Attention now turns to Phoenix. The Harriers start the season by hosting the Dry Heat for a two-game series. Newly-signed SP Jorge Carmona has been named the opening day starter. He'll lead a suspect pitching staff, though big things are expected from closer Rafael Chávez.
The offense is a mixed bag. Lodewijk Meilaart and Sean Collins will share the catching duties and should give the team some options. 1B Carlos Deleón leads the infielders, but he'll need some help. 3B José Carlos Murillo will have to contribute if the team is to have any success. LF Aurelio Méndez heads up an average outfield, though depth could be an issue.
With a weak farm system, the draft will be critical. Hartford has two first-round picks, and they'll need to use them wisely.
The team owner has stated that he expects a .500 season. While possible, that may be asking too much. We shall see.
